Writing Weekends – Scriptwriting worksop in Nottingham

Ever thought of writing a play? Want to improve your dramatic writing? Away With Words is an inspiring weekend workshop which explores the techniques of scriptwriting and encourages you to ‘find your voice’ as a writer.

Discover the essential elements of writing drama through practical exercises, stimulating discussion and one-to-one mentoring. In a professional yet friendly environment, playwright Amanda Whittington and director Esther Richardson help you to create strong characters, develop plot, write subtext and identify the story only YOU can tell.

Amanda and Esther are theatre practitioners with a strong track record in new writing. We are highly experienced workshop leaders and have mentored many theatre writers for professional careers in theatre, radio and television. This two-day workshop focuses on writing for the stage but will encompass techniques for radio and television drama. The practical exercises will also inspire anyone interested in the creative writing process.

Suitable for beginners and experienced writers, Away with Words will motivate your scriptwriting beyond the two-day course. We will also give valuable insight on making your way in the writing business. Held in the contemporary setting of Nottingham’s Hart’s hotel, this is a writer’s weekend in the centre of one of the UK’s most literary cities.
