TWO GREAT NIGHTS NOT TO BE MISSED IN DERBY!

Join us to experience two dynamic and powerful new plays performed by a talented cast of actors at Derby’s Guildhall (in Market Square) on 20 and 21 September
Both writers are from the East Midlands and have been working closely with TWP for 18 months to complete their plays and both received warm responses when extracts were presented at Leicester Curve last year as part of Momentum 2010.

TUESDAY 20 SEPTEMBER 7pm

ALWAYS IN THE AFTERNOON by CATHY GRINDROD directed by Tilly Branson.

Sally has a letter she is always on the brink of posting. Her teenage daughter Hannah wants her to do it and until she does, both their histories will be tied up in a fantasy world. Jennifer has a secret that she can no longer contain in spite of her mother’s determination to keep it buried firmly in the past. Always in the Afternoon is lyrical, witty and poignant play about two women who must liberate themselves from secrets and live face to face with the truth. Cast includes Ali Belbin, Ava Hunt and Imogen O’Sullivan.

WEDNESDAY 21 SEPTEMBER 7pm

THE ROAD FROM BAARDHEERE BY MARILYN RICCI directed by Beth Shouler.

Mogadishu 1991: Arwo and her son Nadif are deciding whether to leave the conflict ridden city and make a long and dangerous journey to stay with Arwo’s uncle.

Leicester 2010: Qamaasha and Samawade have been locked in to the office building where they work as cleaners and are forced to wait for their unscrupuous boss to let them go back to their teenage children who are home alone.

Their stories are twenty years apart but linked forever
by an unforgettable moment. Cast includes Yusra Warsama and Tyrone Huggins.

Tickets are FREE and can be booked through the Derby Live box office on 01332 255800.
