Ears Wide Open

EARS WIDE OPEN PRODUCTIONS:

Threads by Andy Barrett

Bodies in the Library by Sibyl Ruth

Ears Wide Open began as an experiment in site specific audio drama – two writers (Sibyl Ruth from the West Midlands and Andy Barrett from the East Midlands) were selected to write audio drama in response to locations in Birmingham and Nottingham, and their work was recorded in early 2011.

The aim of the bursaries was to make radio drama to be heard by listeners in a particular location in both cities as part of the Birmingham Book Festival and as part of the Momentum Festival. The work was directed by Kate Chapman with creative input from sound designer Adam McCready and from Director of Birmingham Book Festival, Jonathan Davidson. The work was produced by Bianca Winter.

Theatre Writing Partnership subsequently received an award as part of the Breath of Fresh Air programme. The project aims to create interactive drama that enhances families’ experience and discovery of the grounds at Belton House, a National Trust property just outside Grantham. Breath of Fresh Air will start in the summer of 2011, and launch at Belton House in Spring 2012.
